Where do I even begin? To say that I wouldn’t have made it without Emily and her team this past year would be an extreme understatement. We made the incredibly difficult decision to send our 16 year son to residential treatment just over a year ago, and as one can imagine, he went kicking and screaming. I truly didn’t believe we would even be able to get him on a plane without some sort of force or sedation, but somehow Emily worked her magic, and within 30 minutes, she had him agreeing to it. Shortly thereafter, her sober escort, Rick, made the trip with him halfway across the country. You never dream that you will be handing your child’s luggage over to a complete stranger, and trusting that they will get them to their destination safely. But not only did Rick do that, he was able to establish trust with our son, and a bond was formed (dare I say a friendship, even). Over the course of the next year, Rick would accompany him on three more trips to three different residential treatment centers in three different states (like I said, our son went kicking and screaming).

Through this whole grueling process, Emily was my rock in so many ways. With each move, she made the process seamless in what felt like an emergency situation, (and truly sort of was, because my son managed to get himself kicked out of several programs, so we would be in a 24 hour time crunch to find a new facility). Each time, Emily took care of every single detail including finding a new facility that was the right fit, getting him accepted into the program, booking all the travel details including numerous flights and rental cars, and making sure everything was executed according to plan. Each move was made with zero hiccups, all because of Emily’s meticulous planning and attention to detail. As one can imagine, the course of the year was gut wrenching in so very many ways, and not only did Emily come to the rescue every single time with every single move, but she was also a friend and a confidante, a sounding board, a wealth of knowledge and advice, a therapist to me every time I thought I was losing my mind, and maybe best of all, serious comic relief.

I couldn’t recommend anyone more-she is the height of professionalism, and is exceptional at what she does, and she wears a LOT of hats...interventionist, case manager, therapeutic consultant, liaison between family and treatment facility, wise counsel, travel agent, and the list goes on and on. Like I said, she has been my rock over this past year and I am eternally grateful to have gotten connected with her.

The best part of our story is the happy ending...my son came home 3 months ago (exactly one year to the day he left), and he is sober, finishing school, and has been reunited with our family with a bond that is stronger than ever. I don’t believe any of this would have ever been possible without Emily and her team.
